Peridot for Pantone’s 2017 Color of the Year
The Pantone Color Institute has named a zesty yellow-green called “Greenery” the 2017 Color of the Year. Fortunately for jewelry lovers, the color is a perfect match for peridot, the fresh lime gem that’s the birthstone for August.
“Satisfying our growing desire to rejuvenate and revitalize, Greenery symbolizes the reconnection we seek with nature, one another and a larger purpose,” says Leatrice Wiseman, Pantone’s executive director.
In jewelry, peridot is most often a foil for other bright gems in multicolor jewelry. Designers often pair peridot with aquamarine, amethyst, pink tourmaline, and citrine. With enamel, lacquer, and other colorful metal treatments on trend, there are many ways that designers can add a pop of Greenery to new jewelry designs.
Dubbed “nature’s neutral,” by Pantone, Greenery pairs well with neutrals, brights, deep shades, pastels, metallics and even Pantone’s 2016 Colors of the Year 2016, Rose Quartz and Serenity, a pale blue.
Here are a few of my favorite peridot designs and a few enamel and lacquer pieces that feature the color of the year in other ways. Perhaps one of them will inspire you to add peridot to your jewelry collection.
I found your website on loveandpieces.com and loving it! These jewels have got me mesmerized! I love the tassel earrings by Jane Taylor. Absolutely gorgeous. xo
